Sifu Paul Ramos

Master Paul Ramos has dedicated over 50 years to the practice of Kung Fu, martial arts, and holistic health disciplines. For more than 37 years, he has served as Director and Chief Instructor of Wu Shen Tao Health & Martial Arts Centers in the Gaithersburg, Takoma Park, and Hyattsville areas.

Teaching Excellence

Throughout his career, Master Ramos has trained thousands of students across all demographics — from children to business professionals, seniors to individuals with physical challenges. His commitment to developing highly skilled competitors is evidenced by his students earning several dozen US National and World Championship gold medals. He is frequently invited to serve as a judge or workshop instructor at international tournaments and martial arts venues.

Lineage and Mastery

Master Ramos's pursuit of internal martial arts — including Tai Chi Chuan, Bagua Zhang, Wudang Fist, and Xing-Yi Chuan — led him to Shanghai, China in 1993, where he became a 19th generation disciple of the Wu Dang Long Men (Dragon Gate) sect, also known as the Taoist Adepts. In 2010, after years of dedicated study, he achieved the historic distinction of becoming the first American recognized by 18th generation Wu Dang Long Men masters (GM Gao Tie Niao and GM Liu Xiao Ling) as a 19th generation Master.

Accomplishments and Credentials

Master Ramos's extensive accomplishments include:

  • Black belt in Sun Mi Do Karate

  • National ranking in Olympic-style saber fencing

  • Three national titles in Tai Chi Push Hands

  • Extensive medical training in both Western and Eastern traditions

  • Former US Army combat medic and intensive care nurse who managed the General Surgery Clinic at Walter Reed Army Medical Center

  • Advanced training in Chinese Tui Na system, acupressure, body manipulation, massage, herbology, and Taoist meditation and health practices

Continuing Education

Master Ramos continues his training under Grandmasters Liu Xiao Ling and Gao Tie Niao, who help him integrate different internal systems and continually deepen his understanding. His pursuit of knowledge in both medicine and martial arts remains unceasing — exactly as he prefers it.
