The Downtown Silver Spring Fiesta Asia Street Festival event took place on Sunday May 6 from 10am -6pm. Our demo took place at 3:30 pm and was well attended by large crowds who came to this excellent annual event. The event consists of music, dance and martial arts performances, food and various other vendors. It takes place each year on Ellsworth Ave, between Georgia Avenue and Fenton Streets. Part of our demo can be seen on the Wu Shen Tao page on Facebook.

WASHINGTON, DC TAI CHI  FESTIVAL

The Tai Chi Festival took place in front of the Jefferson Memorial in Washington DC this year on Saturday May 5th, 2018. This event has grown over the last several years and hosts Tai Chi demonstrations and fellowship from various Tai Chi Clubs, Schools, programs, and Asian cultural groups from around the Tri-State area.                                  A large crowd of onlookers watched the various form, push hands, and weapons demos which spread out over a 4 hour time period.  Our demo was well received by the crowd and various martial arts teachers who attended. We look forward to being a part of next year’s event as well.

TAIWAN MASTERS VISIT

The David Chen Foundation hosted a Picnic and Tai Chi Cultural Exchange at the Lakewood Elementary School on Saturday May 19th from 10-6PM. The event included form demonstration from area schools, and discussions of Tai Chi theory and demos of push hands practice. Best of all, we were joined by a team of 36 teaches, coaches and top students visiting from Taiwan. The team was made up of leaders from different schools from all over Taiwan and included several champions of Push-hands. Although the rain caused the location to be moved from the outside Tai Chi Court at Cabin John Park, a large standing room only group came to witness several hours of demos, have a community lunch and finish up with about 3 hours of free push hands by all interested individuals. It was a lot of fun and the Taiwanese team proved to be very friendly and gracious participants and a good time was had by all.
